Letter of Thanks

We would like to thank all that hiked, donated and or supported our efforts with our first annual World Hike A Mountain Day held in memory of Jenna Agule. The event was a thundering success as over 300 hikers climbed or walked 27 different mountains and trails around the world (20 US and 7 International). At Mt Wachusett 190 hikers enjoyed not only a good hike but food and festivities at Mt Wachusett’s Apple Fest. Check our web site: www.oneangelfoundation.org for pictures and locations of our hikes.

Monies raised this year has gone to support four great causes: i) the completion of  a toy room at the Cotlands, the AIDS orphanage and hospice Jenna worked with in Cape Town, South Africa; (ii) the completion of a new school in Julticalpa, Honduras by Olancho Aid, where Jenna spent parts of two summers, (iii) to a micro loan account at www.kiva.org  to provide loans to local businesses supporting the economy of Julticalpa and (iv) a scholarship to an AB senior.  Contributions this year made a real difference in the lives of children and their families in these communities.
We don’t know how to thank personally everyone enough who participated in this world event enough from hikers, donors, fund-raisers; the folks at Wachusett, our vendors who supported us and all who gave us support in prayer. Their participation has given us the knowledge that we all are part of something special that will grow and honor Jenna today and in the future.

WORLD HIKE A MOUNTAIN DAY RECAP AND THANK YOU

Hello All
One Angel Foundation’s 1st World Hike A Mountain Day was a thundering success as over 200 hikers climbed or walked 27 different mountains and trails around the world. At Wachusett hikers enjoyed not only a good hike but food and festivities at Apple Fest being held at Wachusett. As we see pictures of our hikers from around the world being posted on Facebook we truly see the magnitude of Jenna’s reach and the mission we are trying to accomplish.

Over the next days and weeks we will be sending our hikers a link to send us their pictures, videos, stories from the hike and any “Jenna” stories you may have. We will be building an on-line book to host the story of our first World Hike A Mountain Day.

We will be closing out our fundraising efforts for World Hike A Mountain Day at the end of this month so please make sure that any donations have get sent in  soon.

Over the next months we will be working with the folks: (i) at the Cotlands, the AIDS orphanage Jenna worked with and (ii) in Julticalpa Honduras to identify projects to be completed with monies raised. We will document those efforts with pictures and stories as they happen so we all can see the impact of our efforts these past few weeks.

We don’t know how to thank everyone enough who participated in this world event enough from hikers, donors, fundraisers, the folks at Wachusett, our vendors who supported us and all that gave us support in prayer. Your participation has given us the knowledge that we all are part of something special that will grow and honor Jenna today and in the future.

Thank you all so much!

Celebrating Jenna Burlington VT Event

September 23, 2011 Burlington Vermont

On Friday September 23, 2011 Jenna’s friends in the Burlington Vermont area held their first annual event to celebrate the wonderful life of Jenna. The event was held at the Firehouse Gallery of the Burlington Arts Center on Church Street.  Over 100 friends celebrated and raised money on behalf of Jenna’s foundation: The One Angel Foundation.

Friends enjoyed food, drink and the music of The Cheddar Band, a local funk band. Hundreds of photos highlighting and celebrating Jenna’s life especially during her time at St Michael’s was featured every where.

One of Jenna’s aunts who attended the event put it perfectly

As we moved thru the rooms, you noticed that there was a very loving warm vibe permeating the crowd - as much as an event like this can bring on tremendous sadness for it's taking place to begin with - this was a true celebration of a life lived.  Organized by some of her dearest friends that she made while a student at St. Michael's, this was a gathering of people who both knew Jenna - but also knew of her.  What touched me was that the core group of girls, who sponsored the event, were in turn so touched by their friends who came, understanding how much of a positive and caring person Jenna was just by word of mouth.  It moved all of us who came up from MA to see how her friends continue to embrace her still.”

A wonderful tribute to a beautiful girl

WORLD HIKE A MOUNTAIN OCTOBER 15TH ANNOUNCED

One Angel Foundation is proud to announce its First Annual World-Wide “Hike a Mountain Day” Saturday October 15, 2011. One Angel Foundation was formed by family and friends of Jenna Agule who died this past January.

One Angel Foundation’s World-Wide “Hike a Mountain Day” is inspired by Jenna’s love of the outdoors. She was an avid outdoorsman with a love of hiking, biking, running and skiing. She truly loved being one with nature. We believe that by combining something that she loved to do with a fundraiser to help those who she cared about is a true testament to her spirit and life.

As Jenna had friends around the world this event is set world wide. Our home mountain will be Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, Massachusetts. Those friends and family who can not make it to Wachusett can still participate by doing a hike near them. Please go to the One Angel Foundation’s web site (www.oneangelfoundation.org) and register today.

Monies raised by this event will go benefit two causes near and dear to Jenna: the first is to help communities such as Julticalpa Honduras, where Jenna spent part of two summers at stabilize their housing needs bring safe drinking water to the community and help support their schools. Part of the monies raised will go to the Cotlands, Inc an organization in Capetown, South Africa which supports an aids orphanage. Jenna spent two days a week at the Cotlands for her junior abroad.
